Marketing & PR Manager

Job Summary:

The Marketing & PR Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategic communications to build support for Faithful Friends Animal Society (FFAS) among its target audiences, (including but not limited to board members, media, donors, volunteers and the public); assist in soliciting funding sources for Faithful Friends’ outreach programs (including but not limited to grants, individuals and corporations), working closely with the Development Manager and Volunteer & Outreach Manager.

  • 40 hours/week, salaried employee
  • No health benefits provided
  • Flexible schedule; must be able to work some evenings and weekends

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in communications, marketing, public relations with knowledge of:
    • Strategic Communications Planning
    • Website and Social Media management
    • Graphic design
  • 3-5 years experience in Marketing, Public Relations or Communications, ideally in an in-house leadership role within a non-profit entity
  • Advanced computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite; and donor database experience
  • Must have graphic design experience; comfortable usingAdobe CreativeSuite
  • Desire to work as part of a team and passionate about promoting the mission of Faithful Friends Animal Society
  • Confident public speaker
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities:

Leadership:

  • Lead in developing with FFAS leadership team the strategic marketing and communication plan/strategies to promote the goals of the organization
  • Work with the Development Managerto create and implement strategies for promotion to prospective donors – corporations, foundation, and individuals
  • Establish metrics designed to build support for FFAS
  • Develop, oversee and manage marketing/communications budget and recommend changes to Development Director
  • Supervise marketing/communication interns and related volunteers
  • Attend appropriate leadership and board committees
  • Assist in board development by creating materials, presentations

Marketing:

  • Establish and maintain procedures and standards for communications materials and activities
  • Maintain website graphics and content; work with appropriate staff to keep website content up to date
  • Maintain local media contacts; promote FFAS regularly to these contacts and serve as the agency’s spokesperson as needed
  • Assume responsibility for planning, maintaining, monitoring and expanding FFAS social networking/media presence
  • Maintain a schedule of events and ensure positing of events is current on community calendars
  • Assist and plan for donor presentations, displays, etc.
  • Review all external publications and communications on an on-going basis to ensure that design and message are in line with FFAS branding initiative
  • Design marketing materials, including solicitations, newsletters, e-newsletters, press releases, appeal distribution and advertisements
  • Develop and implement marketing plan for revenue-generating programs, specifically the Community Veterinary Care Program
  • Collaborate with Development Manager to increase donor/client base and awareness through use of acquisition mailings
  • Work with printers and other related vendors

Relationships:

  • Manage outbound communications efforts with key constituents such as volunteers, funders, media, corporate partners, and public
  • Promote opportunities for partnerships with corporations and local businesses; work with Development Manager to create promotional opportunities and potential funding/sponsorship opportunities
  • Develop collaborative partnerships with FFAS board, staff, volunteers, supporters, media contacts, and vendors
  • Manage and maintain relationships with traditional and social media
  • Secure in-kind and cash support from media and related vendor partners
  • Oversee scheduling of corporate teams, community groups and organizationsfor awareness campaigns, marketing/promotional activities
  • Work with Volunteer & Outreach Manager to support onsite volunteer events; and offsite community events
  • Participate in exhibits, workshops, promotions and conferences to promote community awareness of the agency
