Ben Touchton, KPA-CTP – Faithful Friends Animal Society Dog Trainer
Meet Ben, our resident certified dog trainer. Ben started working at Faithful Friends back in 2013 as an animal caretaker. It didn’t take long for him to realize how passionate he is about working with animals, especially the ones that needed someone who understands them. Through the years, Ben has worked with countless dogs with behavior issues in the shelter to help them become the best dogs they can be. In 2016, an intern with the University of Pennsylvania came to the shelter and started teaching staff more efficient ways to train. From there, he began applying what he learned from this individual to the dogs in care; anything from simple leash manners to generalized anxiety and even select aggression cases, developing his skills immensely. From there, Ben also began working with adopted dogs and their owners in an attempt to keep dogs in their homes and prevent them from returning to the shelter. By working with these pet owners, countless adoption returns due to various behavior issues have been prevented. In 2019, Ben went through the Karen Pryor Academy Dog Trainer Professional course and graduated with distinction in August of 2019, earning his certification.
