From Lost to Found: Bonsai’s Incredible Journey 🧡
In November 2024, a beloved cat named Tigger went missing, leaving his family heartbroken and searching for answers. Months later, on January 13th, 2025, a stray cat was found limping and in distress. He was brought to Faithful Friends, where he was given the name Bonsai.
During his initial exam, our veterinary team discovered that Bonsai had a flea collar that had become dangerously embedded in his skin. At some point, his leg had slipped through the collar, and he had been stuck like this for quite some time. Emaciated and in pain, Bonsai had developed a deep, two-inch wound and a severe pressure injury on his toe from walking abnormally.
Our Veterinary Medical Director, Dr. Rob Lawrie, quickly performed emergency surgery to clean and close the wound. Though Bonsai faced a long road to recovery—and possibly additional surgery to amputate the damaged toe—he showed incredible resilience.
After months of healing and care, Bonsai became healthy enough for adoption and was transferred to a partner store on April 8th. That’s when fate stepped in.
A family scrolling through posts about adoptable pets saw Bonsai’s photo—and felt a flicker of recognition. Could it be their long-lost Tigger? They reached out to Faithful Friends, and after some conversation and a joyful reunion, it was confirmed: Bonsai was indeed Tigger, finally back where he belonged.
From heartbreak to healing to homecoming, Bonsai’s journey reminds us of the incredible resilience of animals—and the power of never giving up hope.
