Meet Bluey: A Resilient Puppy Defying the Odds After Being Abandoned at a Local Park
Bluey, a brave and spunky puppy, who was abandoned with untreated injuries that left him partially paralyzed, is on the road to a new life, thanks to a dedicated foster family, expert medical care, and compassionate donors.
After noticing the injured puppy abandoned in a local park a few weeks ago, concerned neighbors got together to get the chihuahua puppy the help he needed. They reached out to Faithful Friends Animal Society (FFAS), a local no-kill organization, who stepped in to help.
“It was a freezing cold morning the Friday before Christmas when two neighbors reached out about two neglected dogs in Canby Park needing urgent help,” explained Erika, Bluey’s foster. “While it wasn’t clear if the two dogs had been abandoned together, it was obvious they had been neglected and deserved a second chance at life.”
Bluey is making incredible strides with the help of good veterinary care and a dedicated foster home with Erika, who along with her neighbors helped rescue him. He’s seeing medical specialists in orthopedics and neurology to help him heal. Determined to help Bluey reach his full potential, Erika began hydrotherapy sessions at home, using a harness, a bathtub, and plenty of treats. After a week of consistent effort, Bluey achieved a major milestone: standing on his own to drink water. The puppy who just a few weeks ago was unable to stand or eat on his own, now confidently eats and drinks while standing — a testament to his perseverance and the love he receives.
Although Bluey has had to overcome more than most pups, his life took another positive turn when he was provided with a wheelchair thanks to Tyson’s Love and Hope on Wheels. “With the help of a wheelchair loaned by Tysons Love, Bluey can now not only use his wheels but also take steps with his back feet, showing strength, control, and hope for a brighter future,” Erika states.
