Bonsai

On January 13th 2025, a stray cat, now named Bonsai, was found limping and brought to Faithful Friends.

After an initial vet exam, it was determined that Bonsai had been wearing a flea collar that was too loose, allowing his leg to slip through it. We believe he had been stuck like this for some time, as he was emaciated.

The collar had become embedded in his skin, causing a 2-inch wound. Our Veterinary Medical Director, Dr. Lawrie, performed emergency surgery to clean and close the wound.

Bonsai had a long road ahead of him and might have needed additional surgery to amputate his toe. While his leg was trapped in the collar, he had been walking on his toe, which caused a pressure wound.

In April, a member of the community saw his photo when Bonsai was moved to an off-site adoption center, and thought he looked familiar. They reached out—and it turns out, Bonsai was their missing cat, Tigger. They are now reunited and their family is once again, whole.
